1105 Media to Launch TheMobilityProject.com

12/19/2011

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - 1105 Media, Inc., has announced it will launch a Web site aimed at people with mobility-related disabilities, their families and caregivers, healthcare professionals and other community stakeholders.

TheMobilityProject.com, slated for a March 2012 launch, is a production of 1105’s HME Media Group, whose print publications, e-newsletters, Web sites and educational Webinars cover the home medical equipment and complex rehabilitation technology markets for industry professionals.

The new consumer Web site will be produced by Mobility Management, whose readers include clinicians and providers who work with people with highly complex conditions, such as spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis and ALS.

"TheMobilityProject.com is a natural progression in this environment, where the industry professional is so intimately involved day to day with the consumer," said Karen Cavallo, group publisher of the HME Media. "TheMobilityProject.com is a community where end users and caregivers are empowered by information on governmental funding, the latest wheelchair technology and accessibility issues, whether they’re at home or traveling to a big city."

"We’re excited to reach out directly to consumers and their families to share the information and expertise that Mobility Management has gathered during its 10 years in print," said editor Laurie Watanabe. "TheMobilityProject.com will feature new, original content written especially for consumers - stories on topics such as becoming an expert on adaptive automotive equipment, and working with service animals. Our Enabled Life stories will focus on conquering everyday challenges, such as going to the dentist or talking with physicians."

The new site will also benefit from the clinical, policy, funding, research and news stories that Mobility Management features each month.

"We’ll present stories on medical conditions or Medicare reimbursement in a practical way that’s easy for consumers and their families to access and use," Watanabe said. “We look forward to being a resource that this consumer community can turn to, whether they want to learn about new assistive technology, or want expert- and peer-written tips on adventures happening around the world.”
