April 17, 2008. Chatsworth, CA. Education Channel Partner has announced its line-up of editorial contributors for 2008-09. The new publication and website from 1105 Media, designed especially to meet the needs of education sales professionals, has attracted a who’s who in educational sales and marketing to author regular columns and monthly features for its launch year.
“I’m thrilled to have gathered such a talented and experienced group of education market professionals to contribute their wisdom to our new publication,” said Therese Mageau, editor-in-chief of Education Channel Partner. “I know that our readers are going to find information and advice that they can put to immediate use on every page of the magazine and website.”
Contributors will include:
Karen Billings is the Vice President of the Education Division of SIIA, where she drives the association's work with its 150 member companies for whom educational publishing is a primary business. Prior to SIIA, Billings was Vice President of major business initiatives for Bigchalk, Inc. She has also held senior positions at Microsoft and at Claris Corporation. Billings and her SIIA colleagues will provide news analysis for “Behind the News” in each issue.
Charlene Blohm founded C. Blohm & Associates, Inc., in 1991 and has worked with publishers and manufacturers whose products span the educational landscape from printed books to online curriculum. Her expertise in developing and implementing strategic public relations plans has been fine-tuned over the years, and she is now one of the "go-to" people in the educational publishing industry. Blohm will be ECP’s “Instant Expert,” helping demystify new technologies for readers.
Dan Cavalli, President of Strategic Education Alliances, will be answering readers’ “Letters From the Road,” an advice column for sales professionals. Cavalli is a recognized expert in creating and managing strategic sales channels for the education market and supporting them with targeted demand creation programs. He has worked with well-recognized educational publishers and industry experts including Knowledge Adventure, LeapFrog SchoolHouse, The Learning Company, Dorling Kindersley, Times Mirror Corporation and 7th Wave Consulting.
Jeanne Hayes has 25 years of experience in tracking the education technology market, first in her role as founder and CEO of Quality Education Data, Inc., a Scholastic Company, and second in her current role as a consultant to publishers and producers of ed tech products and services. With Tom Greaves (the Greaves Group), she is the publisher of America’s Digital Schools, which will serve as the data source for ECP’s “Trend Spotting” Column.
Jenny House is principal for Red Rock Reports, which offers the K–12 technology and services community information about education funding and funding trends. Jenny will provide funding news and analysis to ECP. A former school district administrator and educational technology innovator in Cupertino, CA school district, House also held executive positions with Apple Computer, Classroom Connect and other leading K-12 organizations.
IESD is recognized in the educational technology and publishing communities as a leader in research and analysis, as well as instructional design consulting. IESD principals Ellen Bialo and Jay Sivin-Kachala recently created EDRoom, a private, web-based conference center that offers deep discussions and meaningful interaction among participants. Bialo and Sivin-Kachala will use EDRoom to conduct online conversations for two of ECP’s cover features.
Glen McCandless, who will be covering the higher education sales market for ECP, is a 25-year veteran of the education markets, principal of Focus Marketing, Inc. and manager of SellingToSchools.com (STS). STS is a free online community for exchange of best practices, products and resources to help sales and marketing professionals succeed. Focus Marketing provides strategic sales, marketing, and business development services to companies that sell products and services to K-12 schools, colleges and universities.
Diane Rapley will write ECP’s “Trend Spotting” column as well as author a cover feature. With more than 20 years experience in K-12 marketing, Rapley has worked with clients such as ABC-CLIO, Fourier Systems, Hayes Connection, Harcourt, Inspiration Software, IntelliTools, Pearson, Peoples Education, Riverdeep, Teachscape, TERC and VIP Tone on brand management, messaging, marketing communications and marketing/sales planning. She also held senior positions at Broderbund School Division, NetSchools and PLATO Learning.
Jerry Rosenbusch, the publisher for Education Channel Partner, will author “Remote Control,” a regular column for channel managers. With more than 20 years in the education industry, Rosenbusch and his organization, 7th Wave Consulting, design and implement results-oriented sales programs that have generated 300% increases in revenue per year. Since 1998 he has been focused on new technologies and effective methods of marketing and selling both directly, and through, independent representatives, resellers and distributors.
Larry Sugarman, President of SMART Selling, Inc., has been helping education sales professionals become more effective and efficient for over 14 years. Prior to launching SMART Selling, he spent 10 years as Western Region Vice President for Jostens Learning. Sugarman is authoring the “EduSales 101” column, which will offer sales advice for professionals new to the education market.
Lee Wilson has been a senior marketing, sales and business development executive at Harcourt, Pearson, Apple and Chancery Software. He consults on strategic direction, marketing programs and sales management for publishing and ed-tech companies. His recent focus has been the blending of technology and print solutions with emphasis on virtual worlds, video games and Web 2.0 technologies. Wilson will write two cover features, on partnering for success and data-driven decision-making in sales.
