(FALLS CHURCH, VA., March 19, 2008) — 1105 Government Information Group announced that Government Computer News (GCN) won a Jesse H. Neal Award from the American Business Media at its annual awards luncheon last week in New York. GCN won the gold ward in the Best Department category (Classification B) for its GCN Lab Reviews.
“The GCN Lab continues to be a distinguishing feature for GCN across the government IT marketplace,” said 1105 Government Information Group President Anne Armstrong. “Under John Breeden’s leadership as GCN Lab Director, the quality of the testing and scope of the work makes GCN one of the first places government IT readers look for insight into today’s top technologies.”
GCN magazine is the technology authority for government and focuses on how to buy, build and manage the technologies that run government. A key component to supporting that mission centers around the reviews and comparisons conducted in the GCN Lab. These regular reports are featured in the magazine and offer in-depth product and solution evaluations that provide insight into the effective deployment of IT budgets to achieve agency missions.
The GCN Lab has continued to enhance its dynamic reports with the launch of GCN LabTV in August 2007. These 3-5 minute evaluations walk viewers through detailed performance, feature and cost comparisons. They also provide tips for practical applications, along with pointers on product/service benefits and pitfalls.
The Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards, which have been called “the Pulitzer Prize of the business press,” are the industry’s most prestigious and most sought-after editorial honors. Established in 1955, the Neal Awards recognize and reward editorial excellence in business-to-business publications. They are named after American Business Media's first managing director, who remained active in promoting the business press throughout his life.
This is the fourth year in a row that GCN has won a Neal award, all in different categories.
